Zidane's Walsall Vs Rotherham Preview

Last updated : 24 November 2005 By Andy Van Hagen
Rotherham visit Bescot in the middle of a dire run of form. The Millers, relegated from the championship last season have not won in 14 games!! Walsall on the other hand have won 4 out of our last 6 so will enter the game full of confidence.

Walsall Team News

Walsall are boosted by the news that Simon Osborn should be available again for selection. The midfielder has recovered from a hamstring strain. Club Captain Chris Westwood has joined the injury list with a reoccurance of the hamstring strain he suffered earlier this season. Westwood should be replaced by Steve Staunton or Anthony Gerrard at the back. Craig Pead will move to right back from the midfield role he occupied on Tuesday night. New striker James Constable should remain on the bench but is likely to have a run out. Daryll Taylor will be pushing for a first team place, this might see Ruben Darius Larossa dropping out. There is no official statement from the club regarding Kris taylor who has not featured of late. Mark Wright, Darren Wrack, Paul Merson and Andy Oakes remain long term absentees.

Rotherham Team News

Rotherham will be boosted by the return of Deon Burton and Lee Williamson from suspension. Colin Murdock still has a game of his suspension to serve so Phil Gilchrist will take his place in defence. Apart from this they have a full strngth squad to choose from. Rotherham like ourselves have been playing around with formations and tactics of late so predicting a line up of Rotherhams is a bit of a lottery

Former Saddlers returning

Deon Burton spent a month on loan at Walsall in September 2003. He made 3 starts and 1 sub appearence for us. Deon failed to get on the scoresheet during his one month stay. His strike partner at Rotherham is Martin Butler, who needs no introduction. Rotherham have seem to of been collecting former Walsall strikers in the last 5 years as they have also had Mark Robbins and Darren Byfield in their ranks since they left us. The ex-Walsall strikers have a habbit of becoming quite proliffic at Rotherham too!!

Prediction

Even though Rotherham will have two former Walsall men up front i am confident we will have too much for a Rotherham side struggling for form. I believe we will win 3-1 with goals from Matty, D Taylor and Constable. Scorer for Rotherham well has to be Butler for me!!
