Zidane's MK Dons Preview

Last updated : 07 October 2005 By Andy Van Hagen
Danny Wilson brings his MK Dons side into town with a 1.00pm kick off for our league one encounter. Both sides have a return of only 7 points out of their last six games. Walsall have a habbit of throwing leads away of late and hopefully we will be able to defend better against a MK Dons side who are second from bottom.

Walsall Team News

Craig Pead returns from his one match suspension and will go back into defence. this will free up Mark Wright for a midfield role. Anthony Gerrard is sufferingom a hamstring problem but is expected to start. Steve Staunton should have a place on the bench along side Julian Bennett. Matty Fryatt is expected to be fit again and will join Ishmael Demontagnac in attack. Ish is expected to retain his starting position after starring last week, despite our defeat to Vale. Ian Roper is still not fit enough to play so he will miss out. Standing and Broad are looking to get a start as Merson looks for a winning formula.

MK Dons Team News

MK Dons will be without Wade Small, Ben Chorley and Trent McLenahan who are suffering from ankle, thigh and hamstring problems.

Former Saddlers Returning

Clive Platt leads the attack for MK Dons. When we have come against our ormer striker in the past he has always been kept quiet by Ian Roper. With Roper out, it will be up to Gerrard and Westwood to stiffle out Platt, however both have different styles to Roper so it will be interesting to see how they cope.

Danger Man

Izzie McLeod is one of the quickest strikers in this league. He knows where the goal is too having scored 4 so far this season in a struggling side. He alongside Platt are a good attacking partnership at this level

Prediction

Walsall never do well against teams we are expected to beat. IE ones near the bottom of the table who have big sides who hoof the ball up and come to cause us problems with men behind the ball. Im expecting us to struggle but to be victorious. Im going for 2-1 Walsall with Demontagnac and Fryatt both scoring. Hopefully this will leave us in a happy state to watch England at 4pm!!!
