Youngster's contract terminated

Walsall this morning cancelled the contract of 20 year old defender Jonny Harkness. This might come as a surprise as on the only first team appearance he made in defence (Vs Stockport) he aquitted himself very well.

Harkness has had a series of loans and recently spent time at Cambridge United and Halesowen Town. He returned and played a part in the 3-0 loss at Bristol City but the defender was played out of position in a wide left role.

I think Walsall have released a very promising player but at this stage in his career the lad needs first team football.
