Westwood out

Chris Westwood will be out for two weeks with a hamstring strain. This leaves Merson with three options :-

Roper and Gerrard - This would be a popular pairing as this was the central defensive partnership that ended last season so well. Gerrard brought the best out in Ropes, who always does well with a talker at his side.

Gerrard and Bennett - Both did well in the away victory at Rotherham on the opening day of the season. A young but inexperienced back line.

Bennett and Roper - Last season these two partnered each other numerous times without looking too soild. Maybe a little too similar in style?

The fans have been calling for Westwood to be rested / dropped already this season as his form has dipped from the opening few games. Im hoping Gerrard and Roper will be given a few games to redevelop their partnership.
