Walsall Vs Norwich Game off disgrace!

Walsall Vs Norwich has been postponed at 2pm this afternoon, just one hour before kick-off.

Radio WM reported the breaking news saying as soon as the referee saw the pitch around one o'clock he looked deeply concerned.

Walsall only needed to look at our Boxing Day opponents Bristol Rovers who made the CHRISTMAS EVE call that an early decision would be made.  They dealt with the situation with the highest level of professionalism.

All the 2,000 Canaries travelling support would have been within miles of Bescot, if not there after at least 4 hours of travel.  It's a long and expensive waste for Norwich support as Walsall showed the highest lack of respect for their fans.  Not to mention our own fans who travel from further a-field as well.

If there had been any, and I mean any, doubt of the match being under threat there should have been an announcement, warning at least.  There should have been a early pitch inspection.  What changes in a few hours?  If a section of the pitch was that frozen, quite how they thought they could get it on is anyone's guess.  The club officials and safety officer will have serious questions to answer this afternoon and the coming days.

One rumor doing the rounds was the Norwich players didn’t want to play on the pitch, however for me that would be obvious to anyone if a pitch was playable or not.  Yes we all want the game to go-ahead but we want common sense in a decision process too!

Walsall officials have dropped one hell of an embarrassing brick and they should ensure the club pay all the costs to the Norwich fans and those from Walsall who live outside the WS postcode.

Football clubs expect their fans to take decisions, to be loyal but give no consideration to those who keep the club going.
