Walsall take a longer look at striker

Walsall are to take a longer look at 21 year old pacey front man Michael Husbands.  The striker is a product of the Villa academy and was at the club at the same time as Merson and Staunton.  The kid has had a troblesome time with injuries and was released by the Villa for that reason.  From Villa the lad joined Southend where he made 4 starts and 12 sub appearences in two years.  He was then released this summer and from there he joined Bristol Rovers on non contract terms.  He impressed the management but the budget was too tight to offer him a deal so he joined up with us.  A pacey striker is what we need for a 4-5-1 formation, especially with Matty Fryatt expected to leave in January regardless if a contract is signed or not.

Michael played for our reserves this week and will be given further chances to impress over the next few weeks.  With us short of strikers and with Michael  being a free agent, this means we can sign him regardless of the transfer window being shut.  It maybe that if signed he is given till Jan to impress?
