Snooker legend Dennis Taylor will open a Wrexham family fun day this bank holiday weekend, as 'The Gresford and District War Memorial Trust' is hosting the event on Monday to celebrate their 60th birthday.

In memory of her late husband Harold Roberts, and as part of the celebrations, village resident Barbara Roberts has donated an original print of the new trust building sketched by local artist and Welsh international footballer Steve Roberts, a former Wrexham player now with Walsall.

At an official presentation this week, Mrs Roberts said: "I am pleased to present the trust with this original artistic sketch of the trust building where my husband was so involved, where he felt proud to work on behalf of the community and where my many grandchildren are still so involved."

Emlyn R Jones, chairman of the trust, said: "The trust is very grateful to Mrs Roberts and the family for their generous gift which will be prominently displayed in the building and will be there for all to see at our bank holiday Monday family fun day."
