Walsall MAD Young Player of the year decided

Last updated : 21 April 2006 By Andy Van Hagen
This week Walsall MAD has been running a poll to decide who wins this seasons Walsall Young Player of the Year vote.

It was a a very close run thing with the winner only just securing first place in the last few hours of the vote.

The winner was Alex Nicholls who broke into the first team in January, days before Matty Fryatt and Jorge Leitao's departure. The young striker broke his his leg in the Youth Cup and his pace has certainly been missed.

In close second was Ishmel Demontagac who has established himself in the first team squad this season. He made a scoring debut in October against Port Vale. Ishmel's progress this season has been hampered by suspensions and next season we need him to mature in this area if he is to truley reach his potential.

The Vote results were as follows:

Alex Nicholls31.1%
Ishmel Demontagnac28.9%
Other8.9%
Mark Bradley6.7%
David McDermott6.7%
Graham Deakin6.7%
Rene Gilmartin6.7%
Luke Tilt2.2%
