"As far as I am concerned, the Walsall situation is off," Hearts manager Craig Levein told the Edinburgh Evening News on Tuesday.
"They have not offered anywhere near the money I need to let Gary go.
"I would be happy for him to go to Aberdeen but I don't know if he wants to go there.
"But one thing is for sure, if I don't get the money I am looking for Gary won't be going anywhere. If the deal doesn't suit us financially then I'd rather keep him as he is another player for us."
