Sunderland 's Joe shows desire to become a full time Saddler

Joe Murphy has this week spoke of his desire to leave Sunderland in search of regular first team football. The only regular football Murphy has experienced in the last 4 years has been while on loan at Walsall during two spells in 2005.

Joe would be very happy to join the Saddlers on a longer basis, although he knows Walsall have the experienced Andy Oakes nearing full fitness again. He knows Andy Oakes contract expires in May and that Walsall might act now to secure his services for a longer term by signing him in the January transfer window.

His performace on Saturday away to Notts Forest was exceptional and more games like that will only alert bigger clubs to his availability.  Walsall have struggled with goal keepers since Jimmy Walker left for West ham in the summer of 2004.  Murphy has commanded the Walsall defence since his arrival and organises his defence vocally, with young defenders such as Pead, Gerrard, Bennett and Fox this is just what is needed.
