Gary Birch scored the all-important goal in the 76th minute to win the game but Lee felt the introduction of Jorge Leitoa on 68 minutes swung the game Walsalls way.

"We were very disappointed with our performance at Rotherham last week and started this game in the same nervy fashion," he told the clubs official site after the 1-0 victory.

"I wanted us to be more positive and play the game in their half, but it didn't work and I had to change things around accordingly.

"That's why I made the decision to bring Jorge Leitao on and after that the game changed.

"The goal came as a result of the best move of the afternoon. It was a great ball from Darren Wrack and Gary Birch is a good finisher so you would back him to score in that situation which, of course, he did.

"We didn't play well today but in the end came away with all three points. I don't like to use the phrase, but we ground out the right result this afternoon."
