Stanton back on trial with rivals

Defender Nathan Stanton, who played (and impressed) for Walsall in the friendly against Halesowen Town on Wednesday night, was not at Bescot for Saturday's the friendly against West Bromwich Albion.

This meant supporters in the stand were asking - Where's Stanton today?

Walsall MAD can reveal that the ex-Scunthore United defender was playing for opening day opponents Rochdale in their 2-1 win over Gloucester.

Stanton came on as a second half substitute and played in central defence. Reports indicate that he gave a good account for himself.

So if Walsall are to sign him, we have beat off some competition. Rochdale must be marginal favourites for his signiture and Notts County are also known to be in the race to sign him.
