Smith signs for Saddlers

Walsall this afternoon completed the signing of Bristol City left sided winger Grant Smith. The midfielder can certainly be described as well travelled, Walsall are his 8th club during his career. He made his debut for Livingston in 2000. A look at his career to date

Born 5th May 1980 in Irvine the Scotsman arrives at Bescot with the ambition of breaking into the first team, something that he was unable to do during his time at Bristol City. When signed from Swindon Town he was attracting the attension of Championship clubs including Leeds United.

Smith will add height to the Walsall midfield, an attribute that has been missing for some time. He is able to play wide on the left or in a more central role. He will provide competition and cover for Ishmel Demontagnac who could now face a spell on the sidelines for his lack of professionalism of late.

I dont think this will be the last signing arriving at Bescot during January. A goal scoring forward must now be top of the wanted list as Paul Mersons January shake up continues.
