Samways Suspended By Saddlers

Samways has not returned to the club since going to Spain after the game against West Ham over a fortnight ago.

The midfielder said the reason for not returning was because he had flu but the Saddlers requested he appear before the club doctor, which he has not done.

"There has been no explanation, apart from a call saying he was not well enough to travel," Saddlers boss Colin Lee told The Express & Star.

"So on Thursday, having talked to the club owner, we agreed to suspend him and the club has suspended his wages.

"We wrote to him on Thursday saying there was a lack of effort to keep in contact.

"We find the situation unacceptable. If he is genuinely ill we want evidence and to be able to assess it ourselves.

"The way in which he has conducted himself is unacceptable and I will not be putting up with it."
