Sadlad's away day preview - Southend

The Shrimpers have quite an impressive record against The Saddlers in games played at Roots Hall.Out of the 36 contests the hosts have won 23 and drew 10 but hey, that's all history.I wouldn't bet against Walsall to record
a rare win there this Saturday.

Walsall are now 4 games unbeaten away and will need
to win this one to attempt to put pressure on the other play-off hopefuls.Still has to be seen as highly unlikely but like Chris Hutchings said this week, until that is no
long mathematically impossible we have to believe we can reach the top six.

Southend have won three and lost three of their last half
dozen games at home and like ourselves have won nine games on home soil.In the game at Walsall early in the season saw Saddlers run out 5-2 winners with Ishy bagging three. These days there's every chance Troy Deeney could bag a hat trick the form he's in at the minute.

Like ourselves Southend have their injury doubts leading
up to the game.Forward James Walker has suffered a set back to his recovery from a hamstring injury and is rated as very doubtful. The major blow to Walsall is of
corse Ant Gerrard who we are told could be out for three weeks or so. With Steve Roberts still nowhere to be seen its down to Manny Smith and Rhys Weston to continue to do the good work they did at Scunthorpe on Tuesday in the heart of the defence. This is my first visit to Roots Hall since 1987 and it will be interesting to see the various changes to the ground since then.I hope there will be enough of us there to make some noise and cheer the lads on to victory.
