Walsall have completed the signing of Portsmouth left-back Jamie Vincent on a month long loan deal and the experienced defender has been signed in time to feature in the league game against Sunderland on Saturday.

Walsall manager Colin Lee has been looking to strengthen the left-hand side of his defence for some time and Vincent could start tomorrow's game.

Vincent is set to become the 3rd Portsmouth player to feature for Lee's side this season. Deon Burton spent a month on-loan at Bescot Stadium and Gary O'Neil is currently enjoying a similar loan spell. Central defender Paul Ritchie and Paul Merson also have connections with the Fratton Park club.

Vincent made his name at Bournemouth before moving to Huddersfield. After being named Huddersfield's player of the season in 2000/01 he signed for Portsmouth but he has barely figured in the past 18 months.

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk Lee said: "He has suffered as a result of the managerial changes during his time at Portsmouth but realises that this is a big opportunity to show his true potential."
