Saddlers sign released Blackburn Rovers midfielder

Walsall are near to completing the signing of ex-Blackburn Rovers midfielder Josh O'Keefe.

Having signed a one year extention last summer O'Keefe played reserve football for Rovers until being signed on loan by new Derby County manager Nigel Clough.

At the end of the two month 'trial' Clough recommended O'Keefe dropped down a level at this stage of his career where he needs to play every week to kick on to the next level.

This is a decent signing for the Saddlers as he would line up alongside Steve Jones signed from Burnley and ex-Northampton captain Mark Hughes in what will be a side of manager Chris Hutchings 'players'.  O'Keefe is described as a box-to-box midfielder something we have lacked of late.
