Saddlers get ready for new campaign with draw

Walsall and Port Vale battled out a 1-1 pre-season draw at Vale Park. Alex Nicholls handed the Saddlers the lead after 11 minutes when he found space to beat Chris Martin with a well-taken low drive. But Vale levelled soon after the break as new signing Gary Roberts fed Anthony Griffith and the midfielder found the net - albeit courtesy of a final touch from Walsall debutant Ryan McGivern.
