Walsall have announced they have beaten off Premiership sides Newcastle United, Blackburn and Bolton Wanderers to secure the services of youngster Sean Geddes.

Geddes has signed a one-year apprenticeship, which will then be followed by a two year professional contract commencing on June 1st 2009.

The Premiership trio have all been linked to the youngster who started out at Holy Name FC. Geddes has also trained with Manchester United and was the subject of newspaper speculation all year over proposed moves away from the 'Banks's Stadium'.

First team manager Jimmy Mullen was present for the signing and under Mick Halsall's guidance it looks as if we have another gem on the production line.
