Saddlers appeal

Walsall have announced that Anthony Gerrard's red card has been appealed by the club.

Manager Richard Money, decided to lodge the appeal after reviewing the incident. He came to the opinion that the challenge did not warrent a red card because it had no intent. He acknowledged that the challenge was mis-timed but believes that type of tackle is often seen in the game.

Gerrard is currently facing a three-match ban for the red card which would see him miss this Saturday's game against Macclesfield, Tuesday's Carling cup tie with Bolton and the away journey to Bristol Rovers.

The decision is expected later today.
