The Walsall fans who packed the away end at Rotherham all went away celebrating after a last minute winner fron Super Sub Jorge.  The full report from Footy Mad is on the menu.

I would like to add

The star preformers for us were Fox, Fryatt, Gerrard, Bennett and Taylor.  This is pleasing as all of them are 21 or over and fills me with great optimism.

Fox dealt with the tricky Jamal Cambell Ryce superbly.  The tricky Rotherham winger was a constant threat and a lesser of a left back would have certainly been the difference between winning and defeat.  Fox still has much room for improvement but i am very confident that regular first team football will bring his game on no end, and could prove to be our best left back since Gino Padula.

Gerrard was back to the form that we saw last season and what a signing he will prove to be for us.  Bennett had a very competent display but he will be unlucky  in that he will be put on the bench for the forthcoming games to allow Westwood who is coming back from suspension to form a centre back pairing with Anthony Gerrard.

Kris Taylor put in a great performance and maybe not getting Surnam in on loan will not be the blow that we first thought if Taylor can put this type of display in week after week.  He has shown us what he can do at the end of last season and yesterday and now we need to see a level of consistency from the lad.  He was full of energy and was always there to put a foot in.  By not getting Surnam it means that we get the benefit of developing a youngster rather than developing another teams.

The referee i thought was going to spoil the game.  He was totally one sided and im afraid his good intentions of not wanting to book players meant the tackles got fierce and out of hand in periods.  But we won so we will forget and its only a short wait till the next game when otts Forest visit Bescot on Tuesday.
