Roper out for 10 days

The official site today indicated that Ian Ropers injury is not as bad as first feared. The hamstring problem which caused Roper to be substituted at half time during the 2-0 win against Barnsley was expected to keep Ropes out for around 3 weeks. Now however the injury has settled down and looks like it will only keep the central defender out for around 10 days. The news will come as a huge relief to manager Paul Merson as Roper has formed a solid centre back partnership with Anthony Gerrard.

Roper will be replaced on Saturday by club Captain Chris Westwood.
