Gary O'Neil has been recalled by Portsmouth. He signed on-loan for Colin Lee's side at the end of September and his loan deal was extended last week but Portsmouth added a 24-hour call-back clause into his latest deal.

O'Neil has returned to Fratton Park today and is certain to miss Saturday's home league game against Norwich City and he could also miss the league games against Nottingham Forest and Bradford City in November.

Walsall mananger Lee said: "Portsmouth have decided to recall him for the time being but have indicated that we may be able to have him back next week."

O'Neil impressed during his first month at Bescot Stadium. He featured in 7 league games as Saddlers picked-up 13 points to move up the table.

Both clubs will lose his services in December though when O'Neil is expected to captain England's Under-20 side in the World Youth Tournament. England's opening group game sees them take on Japan on November 29th.
