January was not a good month for Walsall FC but Anthony Gerrards form was superb. It was the type of form that could have easily seen him leave during the January transfer window as scouts were watching Matty Fryatt or Julian Bennett.

In second place was new loan recruit Mads Timm. Madds wowed the Walsall faithful with his great touch and vision. He particularly impressed in the 2-2 draw at Saltergate. It was the first time for a long long time that i have seen a home crowd boo one of our strikers! Always a sign of respect!! But as he impressed he also frustrated, always looking for the 'sexy' pass rather than a simple lay off. The fans were reminded of a young version of a recently departed saddler.

Third place was Kevin James who managed 3 goals in his first 5 games. Goals came against Barnsley, Chesterfield and Stoke City.

Interestingly 8.3% decided club physio Whitters was worthy of the award.
