People at Walsall helped convince Dann

Scott Dann has been speaking to the Evening Mail about his departure away from The Banks's Stadium.

After his move to the Ricoh Arena Walsall Manager Richard Money suggested it had been agreed Dann would return on loan for a month before a replacement could be recruited. It turns out people within the Banks's Stadium helped him to decide to go against that move - most notably Walsall captain Tommy Mooney, who it was revealed told Daniel Fox to reject a move to Colchester United and wait for a bigger club to come in.

While interviewed our old stopper said:

"I spoke to Tommy once I found out that I was able to speak to Coventry after they'd agreed a fee. He's a good lad, he's been around and he knows a lot about the game.

"He just said to me 'make sure it's right for you, don't listen to anyone else, you make your own decision'.

"Obviously I spoke to my family and a couple of people at Walsall who I got on well with. They've told me Coventry is a good club and it's a good step for me.

"There was no doubt that once the chance to come and play at a club like this and at a higher level came, I'd want to go.

With so many people within the dressing room consulted it seems maybe this wasn't a last minute deadline day move after all. Rumours have been circulating suggesting Dann had been aware of the move all day and actually spent the majority of deadline day at the Ricoh.
