Oldham Athletic - They Came, They Bored, They Scored!

Last updated : 18 February 2006 By Andy Van Hagen
Oldham Athletic came to Bescot today and put in a very professional away performance. It was a typical display of a Ronnie Moore side.

They were well organised, they were well disciplined and they killed the game.

Their players took every opportunity to time waste and hold the game up. But can we learn from this? At the end of the day this type of performance gets results.

In a relegation battle should style go out of the window until safety is assured and more concentration given to doing what is necessary. A win is 3 points, however earned. Do we really want to win friends but no points?

The major difference between the sides was Luke Beckett who again scored against the Saddlers for the upteenth time! But he makes his chances count and makes teams pay for the mistakes they make. Beckett is a big and nasty striker that every team who takes points from Bescot in League One has.

Maybe a few lessons could be learned from Oldham. They came with a game plan and executed it perfectly.
