NEW SIGNING - Stats and Facts (Michael Dobson, ex-Brentford)
Last updated : 07 June 2006 By Andy Van Hagen
Walsall this morning announced the interesting signing of Brentford's Club Captain Michael Dobson. The player has recently returned to Brentford from a loan spell with READING.
Dobson has been with Brentford since he was ten years old, but the time to depart had come. It seems Dobson did not see eye to eye with Brentford's Manager on leave, Martin Allen.
The past two seasons he has struggled with injuries but the signs are that this has now been put behind him. The Brentford official website describes the defender as someone with an appitite for fitness. A quality absent from within our squad of late!!
He is comfortable operating in a number of positions including right-back, on the left and centre midfield. He is 6 foot in height and is a threat from corners. We have all been aware that we need height in midfield and Dobson fills the void but it could be that Dobson fills the right back berth, which would then see Craig Pead drop out.
So his career:
|
Date of birth | 9 April 1981 | Height | 6 |
Place of birth | Isleworth, England | Weight | 12.4 |
Nationality | England | Position | Defence |
Comments | | Squad No. | 12 (Brentford) |
195 starts at 24 years of age is experience. The player has experience of the League we are in and the League where we are aiming for. Micheal ended the seasonn on loan at Reading so he has experience of training with the Championship runaway winners. OK, not much game time with them, but i am sure he would have learnt a great deal training within a squad with the quality of Reading's, and one with the winning mentality that they enjoyed.
This signing was not one the fans were predicting, but we now know that Richard Money has identified the key positions that need strengthening. He is on a recruitment drive for all positions! His recruitment policy so far has to ensure experience is recruited of the bottom two leagues. We are also beating off higher division competition to secure signitures. Could it be that Richard Money knows Quality is better than Quantity? Lessons learned from the Merson Administration!!
