Murphy's loan over

The game against Colchester United marked the last game of Goalkeeper Joe Murphy's loan spell from Sunderland. It is well documented that Paul Merson wants to keep Joe at Bescot. It is understood that if Sunderland manage to bring in another no.3 then Joe will be able to sign a contract with us that will see him extend his stay long term. With only two weeks to go of the January transfer window, Sunderland are no closer to bringing in golakeeping back up. One option is to try for ask for another loan deal but then Murphy will be on 24 call back.

It is unknown if we are unable to secure a deal for Murphy whether Merson will bring in another experienced keeper.

Andy Oakes is now fully fit so he will take the jersey for Barnsley in the cup on Tuesday.
