Money won't be rushed into Picken defender

This Week Allan Picken completed his first 90 minutes of reserve team action as he recovers from his injury nightmare.

It was a personal milestone for the Aussie even though the Saddlers' second string lost 2-0 at Barnsley.

Manager Richard Money has pledged not to rush defender Allan Picken back into action - even if it means our summer signing missing most of the end of the season run-in. His two come-backs from injury this season have been forceably rushed, and that has resulted in lengthy lay offs.

This season his appearances have been limited to:

Allan Picken (Walsall) appearances

05/08/2006League TwoRochdale0-1Walsall0Y

Even so, 'Dick Dosh' told the Express and Star, "He has already shown in the couple of games he has played for us what a good player he is, and if we have to wait until next season then so be it".

This time round the club are ensuring the player is looked after properley and he is given the right rehabilitation to ensure that next season he is given the chance to become a major player for us.
