Merson Still Hoping For Saddlers Post

Last updated : 09 May 2004 By Mad Reporter
The Saddlers 3-2 win against Rotherham on sunday was not enough to secure their first division status after Gillingham managed to take a point at Stoke.

"I would give my right arm to get the job because it would be a massive opportunity for me and I am sure Walsall will bounce straight back.

"I could not have asked for any more from the lads today. We must have made 20 chances.

"I know I have not played anywhere near as well as I could have done this season, or we could have had another four or five points. But I still have some gas in the tank as a player.

"But there are 46 games in a season and we could not rely on Stoke doing us any favours."
