Darren started refereeing in 1988 and progressed through the Northern Alliance and Northern Premier League before being promoted to The Football League assistant referees list in 1996 and the Premier League list in 1998. He was promoted to the FIFA assistant referees list in 2000 and made The Football League referees list in 2004. Darren was an assistant referee at the 2000 FA Cup final.
During the course of the season Darren Drysdale has taken charge of 26 first team games ranging from the Championship to League Two. He has shown 99 yellow cards and 8 red cards to date.
Drysdale refereed Yeovil's 1-0 away win over Hartlepool in September but he has not officiated any Walsall fixtures this term.
