Leroy released

Paul Merson and Walsall today terminated the contract of Leroy Williams.  This does not come as a total shock, however it does come with a bit of dissapointment due to the way the 18 year old burst on to the scene this time last year.  Leroy scored on his first team debut after coming off the bench in  the opening game of the season against Port Vale.  A series of strong performances in the reserves followed but little first team action.

We wish Leroy well and hopes he  becomes more disciplined and makes better use of his undoubted talent.

Meanwhile Steve Staunton is reported in the Evening Mail to be signing non-contract terms with the Saddlers as Paul Merson makes sacrifices in his squad to manage to offer Steve a full time deal.  Staunton will take up a player-coach role.
