League One and Carling Cup opponents Swansea set to lose million pound star

Last updated : 27 July 2007 By Andy Van Hagen
As Walsall announced the signings of Edrissa 'Sunshine' Sonko and Paul Boertien, Swansea City have reluctantly announced they have accepted a million pound offer from Bristol City for star striker and hero Lee Trundle.

Trundle actually handed in a transfer request following two weeks of transfer speculation linking him with a move away from the Liberty Stadium. Swansea tried their all to keep the player at the club. Unfortunately for them, wage increases amongst other incentives were not enough to keep Trundle. The player is about to turn 31 and Championship football is what he craves, one thing Swansea cannot offer him.

It'ss understood to be a done deal with Swansea accepting £1million and the player accepting the personal terms on offer by Bristol City.

Ex-Walsall midfielder and now Swansea manager Roberto Martinez has been promised the funds to invest in the team over the next 12 months.
