Walsall are one of four teams remaining in the LDV southern section. With the next round of the competition the regional semi-finals Walsall know that they will face either Cheltenham Town, Colchester United or Swansea City.
In the area quarter final stage Swansea City beat Peterborough United 3-1 last week. In tonights games Cheltenham Town disposed of local rivals Oxford United 2-1. Colchester also won 2-1 beating MK Dons away from home.
In the Northern section Macclesfield Town beat Cambridge United 4-2 last week while tonight was the night of the underdog. Hereford United knocked out League One's Scunthorpe United and Kidderminster Harriers shocked Bradford with a 2-1 win. Tranmere and Carlisle United went to penalties after a 0-0 draw.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made on Soccer AM on Saturday morning. The Southern section is stronger than the Northern section an the eventual winners look likely to come from this side of the draw
