Mark Kinsella has rolled back the years this season to produce some superb performances in the centre of the park. He first arrived in the Midlands after being signed by Graham Taylor at Aston Villa. He then transferred to West Bromwich Albion where he helped them gain promotion to the Premiership. Gary Megson didn't offer him an extended deal and Paul Merson brought him to Walsall. He wasn't utilised by Merson and found first team appearances few and far between inbeteen injuries.

The one master stroke Merson did preform concerning Kinsella was making him reserve team manager, where he has been a huge success. Kinsella also took temporary charge at Walsall after Kevan Broadhurst was dismissed in April. It looked like Kinsella was being groomed to be a future manager and in the last few weeks he has been linked with Charlton and Derry City.
He will join a managment team of Les Reed and Mark Robson to form a three-man coaching team at The Valley, where he made 200 appearances in his playing career. He will be responsible for the development of their young pros, for the liaison with the academy set-up and the management of the reserve team
Walsall and Charlton have agreed a compensation settlement and Kinsella will depart after our home fixture with Swindon on Saturday. I am sure the Walsall fans will give Mark a great send off because he has always given his all for Walsall. It is sure to be an emotional moment for Kinsella because he will officially be hanging up his boots after Saturday. Kinsella told the Charlton official website "I think they know that had it been any other club then my decision might have been different".
