Jorge goes home early

The club have today announced that Walsall LEGEND Jorge Leitao has left the club. The injury he sustained in the shocking 3-0 away defeat to Bristol City will mean he will miss the Barnsley game.

Jorge scored 71 goals in his 262 appearences spreading over 5 1/2 years. His goal scoring is not what shall be remembered though it will be his pure commitment, professionalism and love for Walsall FC. Jorge would play anywhere asked and particularly under Mersons guidance this would see him fill 3 or 4 positions within a single game. Jorge would never complain or speak out in the press he would just get his head down and graft for the team.

The news he has left early is unsurprising for those who travelled to Ashton Gate on Monday but it will be dissapointing for many who planned to travel up to Barnsley to give Jorge a final send off to remember. His final home game on New Years Eve was a memory that im sure will stay with Jorge for the rest of his life. Five minutes of Jorge songs and a final lap of honour saw Jorge in tears as he said his goodbyes to the home support.

Jorge we wish you all the best, you have given a tremendous service to our club and we will all miss you. I am sure that all Walsall Fans will continue to follow your progress throughtout your return to Portugal.

One more time

Oh Jorge Leitaooo .......
