It was announced this morning the LDV Trophy will now be named the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The competion will have a new format as well next season. Only League One and Two clubs will enter, while a north/south regional divide will remain.

Football League Chairman Lord Mawhinney said "All supporters want to see their club competing for silverware and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy gives clubs from Leagues One and Two a Cup competition that realistically they can win.

The financial rewards of this competition can also be considerable. This season, for instance, Swansea City and Carlisle United each earned more than £250,000 from their appearance in the Final."

The trophy will kick off in October and the Final will be in March. The sceduled venue of the final is Wembley Stadium, but this will depend on the stadium a) being finished; b) gaining safety certificates.
