Stockport visit Bescot on Tuesday as Walsall look forward to our first home game of the 2006/7 season.
A summer of ins and outs have seen Stockport assemble a much changed squad for this season. Noticable departures included Matt Hamshaw, Ross Greenwood and Harpal Singh to name a few. In came Matthew Rose from Yeovil, Gareth Owen from Oldham Athletic and ex-Saddler Tony Dinning who signed from Port Vale amongst others.

Stockport's last visit to Bescot was on the final day of the 2004/5 season. Stockport were bottom of the league and assured of League Two football for the following season. Walsall on the other hand went into the game on the back of four straight victories, providing great optimism for the following season. Of course in reality we like Stockport achieved (if that is the right word) 24th spot in League One and so, we are re-united.
On the sunny May (05) day Walsall beat Stockport convincingly. We bossed the dejected visiting side and Darren Wrack missed a penalty in front of the away end. He missed by a country mile too.
However, Walsall did not let this put them off and we eased to a 3-0 victory with goals from Fryatt, Kris Taylor and Wright although Stockport rode their luck and made us wait until the 89th and 90th minute to get out of sight.
