Introducing the visitors - BOLTON WANDERERS

Last updated : 18 September 2006 By Andy Van Hagen
The size of the task ahead is huge. Dick Dosh has preformed a miricle so far this season turning Walsall around. Having knocked out Championship side Plymouth Argyle in the previous round at Home Park, Walsall now host Premiership side Bolton Wanderers.

While Walsall were entertaining Macclesfield Town on Saturday, Bolton were pitting their wits against Jonathan Woodgate, Mark Viduka and Yakubu in a stalemate at the Reebok Stadium.

The Bolton team expected to take the field on Tuesday night should be a much changed side. However Bolton are from the Premiership and whatever side they put out, it will be littered with internationals and players looking to stake their claim for first team football.

Amazingly Bolton have never won at Walsall in 9 attempts. They have faced 6 defeats along the way.

Their last visit to 'Fortress' Besscot was on the 3rd January 2000. Walsall were 2-0 winners that day in a Championship encounter. The last time the teams met in a League Cup match was 24th September 2003 at the Reebok. Walsall slipped to a 3-1 defeat on the night to a reserve side which became stronger and stronger throughout the competition. Bolton progressed to provide a memerable day out in Cardiff as Bolton reached the final.
