Increased rumors of Wigan entering bidding for Striker

Rumours are circulating that Wigan are about to pounce for Walsall youngster Matty Fryatt.  They are believed to be prepared to pay a 7 figure sum for the striker in their search to find a natural goalscorer following the departure of Nathan Ellington.

However today Steve Claridge made a shock move from Gillingham to Bradford after only one week as a Gills player.  I do wonder if this may mean that the Dean Windass move is back on???

We will await to see the weekends developments, however if a deal is to be done hopfully it will be in the next coulple of days so Paul Merson has the chance to bring in one of his Fryatt replacement targets from the list he is said to have drawn up. This is good planning from Merse but shows he is resigned to losing Matty sooner or later.  Matty has not signed the contract extension handed to him a couple of weeks ago and this may mean we have to cash in on him now rather than lose him for next to nothing
