Ince's views on cup stalemate

After watching his bottom of the league side hold league leaders Walsall to a 0-0 draw, Macclesfield Manager Paul Ince had the following to say to his club's official website www.mtfc.co.uk.

"I was pleased with the performance tonight, definitely in the first half anyway. Once again we had one or two early opportunities where we need to score that first goal. If you dominate a period of a game like we did in that first half then you need to score. But we didn't and in the second half it went a bit scrappy and we cancelled each other out.

We are going to get nervous when it's 0-0, we need that goal to give us the confidence to push on.

In the first 25 minutes Wilesy was on fire, it was just a shame that the two great crosses he put in there was nobody there to capitalise and that's what annoys me.

That's two clean sheets in a row though now and that's a good basis to start from. The performances are getting better each week and playing a team top of the table today there was nothing in it. We were the better team in the first half and I've told the players that.

Since I've come here I've said it has been all about the performances, and if we perform we will start to pick up the results. For the last few games I've been in charge the performance has been there. We should never have lost to Mansfield and we got a good point at Wrexham. Now today we've matched the league leaders in the FA Cup so we are going in the right direction.

"I'm always looking for new players to bring in - we've got a reserve game tomorrow against Wolves with a few trialists coming in."
