Hutchings slams Deeney

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has criticised the way in which star striker Troy Deeney went about handing in his transfer request. Quotes attributed to Deeney at the start of the week stated he had made clear his desire to leave the League One outfit, something the club themselves had no official knowledge of. It was only on Wednesday that the Saddlers confirmed they had received a written request from Deeney`s agent, and not the 22-year-old himself. The forward also criticised the club`s actions in trying to keep hold of him, something Hutchings finds unfair. Hutchings, who is yet to receive a fifth bid from Watford for the player`s services, said in the Express and Star: "I read Troy is going to hand in a transfer request without knocking on my door and I find that quite unprofessional. "We've had a transfer request from his representatives, Troy hasn't actually told me. I found it quite strange that he hasn't knocked on my door and said `I'll be handing a transfer request in`. "What we have done is keep him informed, a club has made offers and they've been rejected. It remains behind closed doors if we talk to him but it was disappointing."
