Five leave Bescot for good, Five offered deals

Yesterday Mick Halsall had to perform the worst responsibility of a youth team manager. He had the announcement to the squad giving details of who were to be retained and who were to be released.

Starting with the bad news if i may. Stzybel, Clayton, Tilt, Leaver and Brown were released. The surprize to many in that list is Jay Stzybel who made his first team debut earlier this season in the 2-1 defeat at Barnsley.

It actually makes you wonder how a 25 year old Mark Wright can stay at Bescot so long when it must be questioned if he will ever improve and a pacey young right winger is released.

Young goalkeeper Luke Tilt, who started in between the sticks for the Youth Cup Final was released. It looks like he payed the price for us having so many young keepers on the books.

We can only wish them all the best of luck in finding new clubs. This day must be one of the worst in their lives. The dream of becoming a professional footballer may have come to an end.

Bradley, Smith, McDermott, Deakin, and Nicholls were awarded pro deals. These players will now look to make a case for first team squad inclusions next term. With relegation to League Two it can be expected that the squad size will dramatically reduce so i am sure we will see some of these players in League fixtures soon.

Ishmel Demontagnac had the one year option on his pro deal activated.

The players who have departed leave with immediate effect, the ones who hav been offered deals will remain in training till May 7th.
