FA Cup - next stop Barnsley

Last updated : 13 December 2005 By Andy Van Hagen
Barnsley won a thrilling game at Valley Parade to secure a place in the third round and a tie against Walsall. They beat Bradford 5-3 after extra time. After 90 mins the score was 3-3. Barnsley showed tremendous spirit coming from behind. It was such a shame that the game was only being played infront of just over 5000 fans.

Walsall will now travel to Barnsley in January, with the details of the game becoming clear after the clubs speak in the morning. A trip to Barnsley is a tough draw. Barnsley have now gone 14 games unbeaten. Their run includes a 2-1 win over ten man Walsall. From our point of view a trip to Bradford would have looked more winnable but Walsall will go into the game knowing they were unlucky in our recent league loss. Walsall will be returning with that game still fresh in the memory and with the intension of dishing out some revenge for poor decisions. We were heavily depleted through injuries in the previous encounter, hopefully we will have a fitter squad for our return.
