England's World Cup bid involves Walsall!

The Sunday Mercury today reveal plans of Birmingham's host city bid within the 2018 wider World Cup bid.

The plan obviously highlights Villa Park as the City's base for competitive games, with the stadium already passing the criteria needed.

However key to Birmingham's bid is using all the stadiums and attractions in the West Midlands.

They plan to use the NEC as a second generation fan park to house 100,000 fans daily with 40,000 able to camp at the site. The NEC has a direct link to the airport and the Railway line into London.

Then the bid plans to use the homes of Birmingham City, West Brom, Wolves and Walsall as training bases for the countries, and offering the chance for a large number of fans to watch some training sessions.

The use of the stadiums would be key to Birmingham allowing the Midlands to be a base for up to 8 nations. With Hotel complex's such as New Hall, Penns Hall and the Belfry, all used by Premiership Clubs are used to hosting high profile sport teams, The Birmingham Bid is using the tried and tested.
