Double Swoop For Merse

Kinsella, 31, has signed a two year deal following his release from West Brom. He has helped both the Baggies and Charlton reach the Premiership and was a £750 000 capture for Aston Villa only two years ago. Whilst at Villa Park, Kinsella met Merse and Jim Walker and this played a big part in his switch to Bescot. “I know that the club is extremely well run and Paul Merson and Jim Walker are two people I respect and know well from my time at Aston Villa.”

Walsall are not exactly short on midfielders with the likes of Standing, Wrack, Taylor, Merse, Corica, Osborn and Kinsella all competing for places but Kinsella oozes experience and know-how. “Mark is an international player of real quality” said Merson, “He is going to be one of the best players at this level.” The move should put an end to the trial spells of midfielders Steve Hayward and Joe Broad.

Versatile twenty-four year old Dakinah impressed at Bescot after a ten day trial. He can play at right back or centre back and has signed a one year deal.

Merson also hopes to complete another signing shortly – hopefully a pacy striker. "We have another signing in the pipeline." hinted the Bescot boss.
