Dennis Smith on shared point

After watching his side battle out a 1-1 draw with the run-away league leaders, Wrexham Manager Dennis Smith told his clubs official website www.wrexhamafc.co.uk about his take on the game.

"First half I thought that we showed them too much respect but Chris Llewellyn still missed one hell of a chance just before half-time to equalise.

I've had a few things to say at half time and in the second half I thought that we upped the tempo, got in their faces, played at a much higher speed and got about them and Chris has again missed a very good chance but the one that he has scored was worth waiting for.

We know that the team I sent out was there to win, we need to be winning. People say that well they are top of the league and we are struggling but I think that we are capable of taking on anybody in this league if I can get a squad out, the ones who are playing today have got to prove that they are good enough to be at the club and to be pushing for the first team. People like Marc Williams have not done himself any harm today. I thought he had a super game but the last ten minutes he was treading water. I'm pleased with him.

There were little bits of performances out of people who you think no bad, the two centre-back considering what they had to put up with handed it very well and we'll take it on from here, again its not a win but I think that we did enough during the second half just to have shaded it.

The kid (Marc Williams) has got ability but his goalscoring is not the best, he's a join up player although he's not a great goalscorer but his work rate I thought was excellent, he gave them problems in the air, which shocked them a bit I think, and I was delighted with his performance.

Chris could have finished with a hat-trick and I would have been extremely happy with him. I'm reasonably happy with him but I would have been happier if he'd got the hat trick!
