Danny Sonner leaves Walsall

Walsall midfielder Danny Sonner has today left the club by mutual consent after requesting that his contract should be terminated.

The club have stated that Sonner wished to leave because he felt that his current injuries were preventing him from making a significant contribution to the Saddlers' League One campaign.

The club have declined to make any further comment on the matter, however manager Richard Money had stated in a press conference earlier on in the day that Sonner was 'doubtful' for the trip to Hartlepool.

Sonner featured in all but one of the club's league fixtures this season, missing only for the defeat at Gillingham. He also did not feature in the Johnstone's Paints Trophy First Round defeat at Bournemouth. His last Walsall appearance was the 3-0 home defeat by Oldham Athletic, when he was substituted at half-time.

With Money also today being given the go-ahead to make loan signings, it is unclear whether this was dependent on Sonner's contract being terminated. The manager has stated that he may make 2 or 3 loan signings in the next 24 hours, which, he says, "will change things completely".
