Carbon facing uncertain future

Central defender Matt Carbon has admitted he would have to go on the transfer list if Saddlers manager Colin Lee couldn't offer him a permanent contract.

Carbon took a break from the game on the eve of the season but Saddlers still hold his registration and if Lee cannot offer him a contract, he would be forced onto the transfer list in order to find another club.

Carbon returned to Bescot Stadium earlier in the month and is set to make another appearance for the Reserve Team this week, and Lee and Jeff Bonser must decide soon whether to offer him a permanent return.

Speaking to the Express and Star he said: "I have spoken to the manager about the situation. I'm just waiting to see what's on offer for me here."

Carbon added: "I hope there is something there for me. If the club decide that they can't offer me anything then I'll still be registered here, and I suppose I'll have to go on the transfer list and hope something can be sorted out."

Saddlers would no doubt demand a transfer fee for Carbon if he decided to seek a move and that could prove a stumbling block for interested clubs.
