Caio for now!

Walsall today announced that Andy Oakes, Simon Osborn, Taiwo Ateino and Dean Coleman have been released.

Taiwo Ateino and Dean Coleman will not come as a huge surprised to Walsall fans. The departures of Oakes and Osborn however are likely to cause a bit of a stir.

In honesty, both players divided the Walsall crowd. Andy Oakes is probably the best shot stopper in League One nevermind League Two. Unfortunately  he seems a player who struggles with confidence and as a result constant questions are raised over his positioning and judgement. It is rumored he rejected a contract offer this weekend that would have seen him take a one year contract on lower wages.

Simon Osborn! Well half the crowd appreciated him, half never saw past the orange shirt he wore over five years ago. Like him or not i'm sure there is a correlation between Ozzie playing and Walsall picking up points.

Both players are high earners and are prone to injuries. It seems the chioce has been taken to redistribute their wages amongst younger players in other positions within the squad.

Walsall have been tracking other goalkeeping options since November and will be looking to tie up a target in the coming weeks.

It will be interesting to see what input new manager Richard Money had on the releases. It could be Mark Kinsella and Mick Halsall had the defining say.

In League Two it seems Walsall could not sustain Dean keates, Kris taylor, Mark Kinsella and Simon Osborn in the same squad. With Osborn being the elder it seems he has payed the price because Mark Kinsella's coaching responsibilities.

It would be easy to suggest that if the departures get fixed up then League Two will be their level. So guys, its caio for now!
